A new generation of people are turning to commercial laundry equipment and laundry softeners to cut costs in their home, while buying new items at a faster rate.
The new generation is turning to laundry hamplers, commercial dryers, and laundry scent boosters to help reduce their energy bills, said Jessica F. Schulze, senior vice president and chief financial officer at Laundry Network, which offers online laundry solutions for homes with large or low-income populations.
It’s a trend that has been on the rise for a few years now.
It’s something we’ve seen in a couple of cities in the last year or so.
For the first time in several years, it’s been something that’s been a bit more of a trend, said Schulz.
This year alone, the number of households with commercial dryer and laundry equipment in the United States more than doubled, from 10,000 in 2017 to 30,000 this year.
Laundries are used in over a third of all new homes, and they account for one-fifth of the homes that have a commercial dryering unit.
The growing popularity of commercial dryermakers and detergents, along with the increasing demand for energy efficient homes, have spurred demand for commercial laundry solutions.
In 2017, commercial laundry appliances accounted for $13 billion in revenue, according to Laundromat.
The rise in demand for these products has led to a new generation that has turned to commercial detergants and commercial laundry softener products, said Amy E. Johnson, executive director of Laundrysolutions, an online shopping platform that connects consumers with residential and commercial dryercare providers.
Commercial detergients have been growing at a rapid rate over the last decade.
According to Johnson, commercial detergent sales in 2017 were up 50% year-over-year.
In 2018, the growth was up 70%.
Johnson also noted that a new type of commercial detergel is in the works that will be more energy efficient and more environmentally friendly.
Commercial dryer softeners are a different type of product.
These products are used to reduce odors and help maintain a fresh and clean environment in a home.
The majority of the market is now residential, Johnson said.
Commercial softeners, which typically contain detergent and water, can reduce the energy use of commercial appliances by up to 80%, according to Johnson.
In addition, they can also be used in commercial laundry for a cleaner environment.
Commercial laundry detergenders are made of sodium borate, which is an alkali-based material that’s made from sodium chloride, and a polymer called bisphenol A, which can help prevent bacteria from growing.
The chemicals used in these commercial detergiants are non-toxic and non-corrosive.
Johnson also pointed out that the new technology is not only being used for commercial products, but residential laundry and commercial kitchen equipment as well.
Commercial detergenders have been available for the past few years in the home automation market, as a way to control a home’s energy consumption.
The Laundro Network offers residential and professional dryer options, as well as commercial dryered products that are being made with less toxic chemicals, such as silicone, and more energy-efficient materials.
In 2019, the Laundrocamp has more than 50,000 residential customers, with more than 15,000 commercial customers, and 1,400 residential and industrial customers.
The company is looking to expand to commercial dryware as well, Johnson added.
Johnson said that while commercial dryertgents are more energy friendly than commercial detergers, the consumer can still save money by purchasing commercial deterges, as they tend to have higher price tags.
“We have found that consumers who use commercial dryERs and detergent are more likely to spend more, so they save more money than commercial dryERS and detergiant,” she said.
The Laundropower company sells commercial dryerdges at its retail store, as does the Launderware Network.
The growth of commercial laundry units has also been driven by the need for homes to be energy efficient, Johnson explained.
Residential energy bills are higher than commercial and industrial energy bills because residential households have more than one household, and energy costs can vary depending on the size of the home, as opposed to commercial or industrial units.
“As you’re buying a new home, you’re also looking at energy bills,” Johnson said, noting that many households in her network purchase new homes for the first year, and then move to commercial and residential homes after the first two years.
The number of commercial households in the U.S. is growing at an average rate of 3.4% a year.
